Environmental impacts effect the environment.

• Increasing carbon dioxide emissions - leads to global warming and ultimately climate change
• Sea-level rises, desertification, melting glaciers
• Changing weather patterns - more hurricanes, floods, droughts
• Increasing demand for oil – looking for it in difficult areas such as deep water areas (Gulf of Mexico) or environmentally sensitive areas (the Arctic)
• Oil spills from boats like the Exon Valdez or from the oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico
• Spoil heaps (piles of waste material) from coal mining
